The Coco Monologues

One of my roommates pointed out this wonderful article in the Washington Post about a play called "Hakeh Niswan," or, in Arabic, "Women's Talk." Inspired by the Vagina Monologues (which, by the way, is a wonderful experience that everyone, vagina or no, should see), a Lebanese woman decided to write her own play about issue surrounding women in the Arab world. It took five tries to make it past the censors, but it finally did, playing to sold-out audiences in Beirut, my father's birthplace. Awesome.

Candy, so true. And, I guess every human on the face of the earth has a family history of immigration. As a WASP (I know, an ancient term) I've had to struggle with that issue lately and examine my own bigotry. I finally had to admit that if illegal immigrants looked and talked like me I'd welcome them all. In fact, the humanitarian thing to do would be to dispose of all immigration laws. Let anyone come to the US that wants to, and give them all the right to vote and all the benefits of US citizenship as soon as they step foot here. That's the only right thing to do. And certainly, if my particular ethnic group wanted to change things, even the words or language of the National Anthem, I would support them totally. It really is rascist and classist to expect people who come here to assimilate into the existing Nation and system of laws and culture.

Speaking of family, I'm curious if your family knows about your work (particularly this site) and how they feel about it if they do.

My parents know I do nude art modeling, but that's all they know. They wouldn't care much about this site- they'd enjoy reading what I've written, most likely, but they would probably be upset over SeeCandyBleed. It's a little disappointing that I've been mentioned in an art magazine, and I don't feel that I can share it with my family. Oh well.

My family is from Lebanon. The city of Sidon. Not to far south of Beirut.

Have you been to Lebanon?

BTW your site continues to thrill me and I'm always looking forward to reading your thoughts and seeing your pictures. Especially the outdoor ones:)

Hope to see and read more soon. What outdoor pictures are you/photographer planning.

Also how are promoting this site or are you? You may want to think about starting a paid site for your outdoor pictures which may allow you to spend more time writing.

christine: thanks for the kind words.

Anne: I have been to Lebanon, and hope to go there again soon. I promote this site a little bit by listing it in directories. The outdoor pictures aren't mine to use for profit. If anything develops a membership area, it's probably going to be my other site.

Paula: I'll sell it to you for $500 dollars.

anon#2: I'm taking a break from the pornpicks- not sure if I'll go back to them.

And, tell me, please, what is THAT for? You don't know what to photograph, so, thus, you take a picture of your bombastic breasts ??? My God, the internet has become more odd as the dayzzz go by. May God bless you with discernment, child.
