Anonymous.
The internet allows an amount of anonymous hate that I find very unsettling- and I wonder about my decision to venture out into the cyber world, exposing my face and opinions for everyone to see, especially regarding See Candy Bleed.
Although this blog isn't popular enough to have people troll it or post viscous comments, I've seen it in other places, and you have to wonder: "what the heck is going on in other people's heads?" I'm talking about the people who not only revealed the name of the accuser in the Duke rape case, but blasted it all over the internet, mocking her. The people who go to craigslist.org to post in the "rants and raves" about how much they hate immigrants.
The thing that really gets to me is that these people would never speak like this if people knew who they were. They know that this part of them is ugly- yet they still feel the need to express it. They've found the perfect venue for it.
In real life people say that I'm very blunt. That with me, what you see is what you get. I offend people sometimes, but I think it's a good characteristic to have, if you think about the alternatives.

Hi, Candy. I just read the comments. Actually, I'm not surprised to see scribblings like that.
Right now, there are web sites like Ogrish, Dlisted.blogspot.com, uselessjunk.com, and consumptionjunction.com where comments (not by the hosts, but by the viewers) like these are typical.
People seem to want to "one-up" each other in how insulting, depraved, or callously sardonic they can come across on a web site. I find it sad and infuriating sometimes.
Once I got drawn into a flame war because people were saying Howard Stern's girlfriend deserved to get spit in the face (by some deranged guy) because she dated Stern.
By the time the insult fest was over, I was the only one standing, but it's not a good feeling to reach into the deep, dark recesses of your psyche to verbally eviscerate people.
In conclusion, being one of those a-holes is it's own punishment. :)
It's pretty hard to get to me most of the time- I love how I look and what I do, but when you're pounded by a deluge of comments(one particular messageboard) it definitely goes from oddly flattering to making you feel kind of bad about yourself.
You are beautiful.
You inspire me.
We need more people like you around. Everyone wants to disguise that they're human.
